Pay it Forward

My Facebook friend Kim had a great idea for me the other day and I love a good idea!  She wanted to know places she could donate items to and what their needs are.  I love that God gives me the resources to not only feed my own family, but to pay it forward by blessing others with the gifts he gives us.  Couponing makes it possible for my family to donate items from our stockpile to 2 different organizations.  The two listed below are not the only places in this area who give back to the community and who need donations, these are just the 2 that I give to personally!  If you have an organization or church that you would like for me to showcase here then send me an email at becca_shea@hotmail.com and I will be glad to add other organizations to this list so that we all will know what the needs are here in our community.

Southside Christian Church Agape House

I am very proud to call Southside Christian Church my church home.  The Agapae house is "an outreach ministry of Southside Christian Church meeting the physical needs of people. Anyone can come and receive items absolutely free and we pray they feel the 'Agape Love' that Christ has shown the world."  Southside always welcomes donations of clothing, housewares, furniture, appliances, and food.  For more information on the this ministry please go to the Southside Christian Church Agape House website.  Here are the needs of the Agape House Food Pantry:
  • Bags of Dry Beans
  • Bags or boxes of Pasta
  • Canned Vegetables
  • Juice in cans or boxes (no glass)
  • Canned tomato/spaghetti sauce
  • Instant Potatoes
  • Canned Tuna/Chicken
  • Small boxes of assorted cereals
  • Peanut Butter
  • Boxed macaroni and cheese
  • Canned Fruits
  • Canned soups
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Muffin and Pancake mixes
  • Snack items: granola bars, fruit snacks, etc
  • Applesauce

Another local organization that I support and that is very dear to my heart is the Isaiah House.  Addiction is something that touches so many people in our community and I love that the Isaiah House is a Christian organization that helps to heal men of addiction through the love and grace of Jesus Christ.  Their goal is to "help men with life controlling issues, such as drug and alcohol addictions as well as other issues by providing a healthy, balanced, structured environment for the whole man, addressing the spiritual, physical, emotional, financial and legal necessities. Our goal is to provide a place of recovery, transformation, healing and wholeness by focusing hope in Jesus Christ; instilling tools to break destructive patterns and habits, begin making right choices, setting goals, restoring broken relationships and living a disciplined abundant life."

Because the Isaiah House is a Christian rehabilitation facility, they are not supported by federal funding.  The success of their program depends on support from area churches and private donors.  The needs of this facility are great and anyone who would like to see a full list of their needs should visit the Isaiah House Needs and Seeds website.  Here are a few of the items that the Isiah House could use:
